Privacy policy

ButlerCast is a product of Solutech (“we”). This policy explains what personal data we process when you use butlercast.com, the ButlerCast client portal and ButlerCast appliances, and what rights you have. We act as data controller for the portal and our website. For the guest data your appliances handle, you (the property) are the controller and we act as your processor.
Data we collect
- Account data: your e-mail address and, if you sign in with Google, your name and profile picture as provided by Google. We never receive your Google password.
- Organisation and billing data: company name, billing address, VAT number and subscription history. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number.
- Appliance data: for each appliance linked to your account, its identifier, software version, health and status reports, and the configuration you set in the portal.
- Technical data: IP address, browser type and security logs when you use the website or the portal, kept to run and protect the service.
Guest devices on your network (for example phones casting to a TV) are handled by the appliance on your premises. Appliances do not send guests’ personal data to us, apart from what you choose to share with support.
Why we use it
- To create and secure your account and sign you in (performance of our contract with you).
- To provide licences, updates, fleet management and support (performance of contract).
- To bill you and meet our accounting and tax obligations (legal obligation).
- To keep the service secure and fix problems (our legitimate interest).
- To send you service e-mails such as sign-in links, invoices and important notices about your appliances.
We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.
Service providers
We use the following providers, each bound by a data processing agreement:
- Supabase (authentication and database, hosted in the European Union, Ireland)
- Vercel (website and portal hosting)
- Cloudflare (network, security and software downloads)
- Stripe (payments and invoicing)
- Twilio SendGrid (transactional e-mail)
- Google (only if you choose “Continue with Google”)
Some of these providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. In that case the transfer is covered by the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision.
How long we keep it
We keep account and appliance data while your account is active, and delete it within 12 months after the account is closed. Invoices and billing records are kept for 10 years, as required by law. Security logs are kept for up to 12 months.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, object to or restrict its processing, and withdraw any consent you gave. Write to support@butlercast.com. You can also complain to your data protection authority (in France, the CNIL).
Cookies
The portal uses only the cookies needed to keep you signed in. The website does not use advertising or tracking cookies.
Google user data
If you sign in with Google, we receive only your name, e-mail address and profile picture, and use them only to sign you in and show who is signed in. Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
